A mirror-like, diamond-bodied carangid trailing long gossamer filament ribbons, drifting majestically through blue water like a phantom jellyfish.

Juveniles sport extraordinarily elongated dorsal and anal fin streamers extending multiple times their body length to mimic venomous jellyfish tentacles and deter predators; these dramatic flowing filaments gradually regress and disappear as they mature into adults.
