腹部特化出由胸鰭與腹鰭共同構成的發達吸盤，能在強勁激浪中牢牢吸附於岩石、海膽刺或珊瑚基質上；全身覆蓋光滑黏液而完全缺乏鱗片，常與刺冠海膽共生，借海膽毒刺作為天然防護屏障。

Equipped with a powerful thoracic suction disc formed by modified pelvic and pectoral fins, enabling it to adhere tightly to rocks or urchin spines amidst turbulent surge; scaleless and coated in mucus, it frequently shelters safely among venomous urchin spines.
