A midnight-black dwarf angelfish marked with a vertical ivory flash like a glowing keyhole, finished with bright yellow-trimmed ventral and anal fins.

Named for the distinct vertical white oval marking on its flank resembling an antique keyhole; it is one of the largest species among the pygmy angelfishes.
