A striking high-contrast damselfish sporting a deep brownish-black body offset by an immaculate snowy-white tail, foraging in aggregations along outer reef drop-offs.

Although its species name 'xanthura' translates from Greek as 'yellow tail', adults actually display a stark, pure white tail that functions as a high-contrast beacon for schooling cohesion.
