A flexible seven- to eight-armed sea star camouflaged in mottled olive and yellow, prowling rapidly across open sand flats.
Unlike typical five-armed sea stars, it normally bears seven or eight long flexible arms; it is remarkably fast-moving across sand flats and can readily autotomize trapped limbs to evade predators, regenerating them over subsequent months.
